Alien Flood and Drain XL systems are by comparison the best product available on the market. On going research and development of the product has allowed Alien to resolve issues commonly associated with these type of systems. Through their research they have created an easy to use, reliable and more efficient flood and drain system.
In the past, flood and drain systems have been unreliable due to the 'mechanical' float which is usually bulky and inaccurate. The floats are easily dislodged by debris often resulting is disaster when they fail. To combat this, Alien have designed an electronic control unit (patent pending) using probes to electronically control the level of nutrients in the brain pot. A programmable timer, located in the ECU allows you to control when flood cycles occur and how often.
How it works
One reaching your pre-set time, the irrigation of your plants will begin. The system will flood your pots. This allows the nutrient rich solution to pass up into the pot, forcing stale air out and nourishing your plants roots with nutrients.Once the pots are full, the upper probe will signal to the ECU to finish the cycle and to start the drain cycle. The nutrient solution is returned back to the Aqua tank ready to go again with the next cycle. The system then remains idle until the next pre-set time is reached and the process repeats itself. The systems are made in the UK and technical advise and support is available if you should have any questions.
Improving performance
We have specifically manufactured 32mm flexible PVC pipe and fittings in food grade material. The internal size of the pipe is over 5 x the size of the standard 13mm pipe used in other systems, this has many advantages. Firstly, it allows us to use faster flowing pumps so our flood and drain cycle is completed up to 3 x faster than other systems on the market. This more efficient process produces healthier plants and a higher yield as the roots are submerged for the shortest possible time. The increased diameter also minimises the risk of the roots blocking the pipes. We have designed the pot stands sloped which aids drainage and are supplied with our flood & drain systems.
Easy set up
To keep the system set up time to a minimum the 20 litre plastic pots have pre-punched holes. With each system a pair of quality pipe cutters are provided so no tools are required. We use our own specially designed grommets and fittings to ensure secure and water tight connections. The entire system is simply push-fit.
Aqua tank
The Budbox Aqua tanks are a collapsible water tank allowing the whole system to fit through tight spaces where other bulky plastic water butts cannot. The tanks come flat packed so the entire system fits neatly into a cardboard box allowing for easier transportation. The material is non-toxic and 100% lightproof.
