La culture sous lumière artificielle donne une excellente qualité et, bien sûr, tout le monde ne dispose pas d'un jardin ou d'un balcon ensoleillé, et encore moins d'une serre. Mais presque tout le monde dispose d'un endroit où installer une boîte de culture. Il est également possible de cultiver en intérieur sous des tubes fluorescents spéciaux. Ces tubes dégagent beaucoup moins de chaleur que les lampes à vapeur de sodium haute pression de 400 et 600 watts habituellement utilisées, qui dégagent plus de chaleur.
